Q&ACategory: Dividend Stockscalculate historical dividend yield of Yangzhijiang shipbuilding
Emily asked 2 months ago

I am attempting to calculate the historical dividend yield of yangzhijiang shipbuilding. Dividend yield is dividend per share divide by price.

From what I understand from the financial presentation, 2026 dividend is for FY2025 pay in 2026 and 2025 dividend is for FY2024 paid in 2025 and so on.

So I am quite confused as to whether to use 2026 dividend for 2025 prices or use 2024 dividend for 2025 prices.

I think it is neater to use 2024 dividend for 2025 prices, 2025 dividend for 2026 prices and 2026 dividend for 2027 prices.

So for 2025 prices, I use 2024 dividend of $0.065. For 2026 prices, I use 2025 dividend of $0.12.

Would appreciate it if you could advise on this.

Note that YZJ derives bulk of their business from shipbuilding which is non-recurring in nature.

Hi Emily That's the right way to think about it! You can take their full year dividend per share from their annual report.
