Q&ACategory: Dividend StocksSelling of SG Stocks
Tang asked 2 months ago

I was using a stock brokerage for my SG stocks for many years but I realised that the fees are very high. Can I use a different brokerage that charge a low fee that can access to my CDP account? Please advise what can I do for such situation because the expenses is really too high.

Hi Jerry

Yes, you can. If your shares are held via CDP, you can sell through any brokers (just need to link your personal CDP with the broker). If you do not wish to pay for custodian fees for foreign stocks, then it makes sense to sell on the open market and buy back from the new broker. If you request for share transfer, the admin fees and work often do not make sense.
